"Good enough" is sustainable: small steps over perfection in digital sustainability

9th July @ 10 - 10:20am EST / 4 - 4:20pm CEST

After giving talks about green IT or chatting with tech folks about this topic, I've seen those confused expressions (like the “math-girl meme”, for reference): interest sparks, but daily job changes feel overwhelming. Green IT, green software and digital sustainability are niche topics and no one-size-fits-all strategy exists.

Sustainability is like a custom dress, tailored to each context. Humans fear unstructured change, so teams stall. But this talk flips the polarity: small, continuous improvements beat waiting for perfect redesigns. We’ll be talking about “good enough” environmentally responsible (i.e. compressing asset’s to cut data transfer emissions is more actionable than rebuilding an app), how to pick the highest-impact interventions first, and how to avoid the perfection trap that keeps sustainable software from being adopted.

About the Speaker

As a Green Software Advocate and Tech Sustainability Consultant, my mission is helping companies and professionals build more sustainable, low-carbon digital solutions. Since discovering technology's environmental impact in early 2023, I've become a recognized speaker at major tech conferences and co-founded Green Software Italia community. I believe in responsible technology that creates positive impact for both businesses and the environment.
