A love letter to fossil fuels

10th July @ 9 - 9:40am EST / 3 - 3:40pm CEST

I was born just down the road from an oil refinery and my Dad worked for the largest oil company in the world. As a teenager, I rebelled by rejecting the corporate narrative at home and becoming an environmentalist, going on to make sustainability a core part of my life and career. For years this created deep tension between us that was hard to overcome.

In recent years though, things have changed for the better, despite nothing really having changed. This talk follows my own personal journey to discover how gratitude and compassion can open space to expand perspectives, find common ground, and deepen understanding of our differences.

The journey reveals a powerful pathway for change in an increasingly divided society, and it begins with an unexpected love letter to fossil fuels.
